Great design begins with empathy. For Minal, that empathy came from lived experience. Growing up with scoliosis taught her how deeply movement, posture, and environment influence how we feel — insights she carried into her career as an architect. In her work, she noticed how much of the furniture around us fails to truly support us — rigid, uncomfortable, and disconnected from the way our bodies naturally move. It was made mainly for the ease of mass-manufacturing and not for the user’s wellbeing.
Inspired to change that, Minal partnered with Sanjay, a global supply chain leader passionate about sustainability and innovation. Together, in 2010 they founded Aura Seating — a company where mindful design meets modern living and where instead of the user adapting to the furniture, the furniture adapts to the user.
Drawing inspiration from timeless mid-century modern design, Aura furniture blends form and function to create spaces that invite comfort, connection, and well-being. Each piece is crafted to align with the body, honor the planet, and bring people together through thoughtful, enduring design.
